Geralyn Saunders RN, MS  has had an extremely distinguished career over the last 40 years, it is apparent that she possesses a rare blend of clinical expertise, IT acumen, and visionary leadership, particularly in the field of healthcare information technology. Her skills are almost too many to list but include the following: Leadership in both Nursing and Healthcare, Project Management, IT Implementation, Team Building, Strategic Planning, Vendor Relationship Management, and Operational Streamlining.

At Boston Medical Center, Geralyn has consistently demonstrated her ability as an innovative and customer-focused professional. As the first regional Chief Nursing Information Officer CNIO), she played a pivotal role in assisting the Nursing department to achieve Magnet designation and co-lead the first regional implementation of the EPIC E.H.R. , which is a testament to her commitment to nursing excellence. Furthermore, her leadership during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic era was both acknowledged and celebrated, showcasing her resilience and adaptability in crises.

Geralyn’s tenure as the Director of the Project Management Office was marked by the implementation of a strong project governance system, expanding clinical participation. Her forward-thinking approach was also evident in her role as Director of Nursing Informatics and Application Delivery. Here, she led the team in implementing multiple critical clinical applications, demonstrating her capability to manage complex projects effectively.

In addition to her professional achievements, Geralyn’s involvement in professional forums and multiple presentations at NENIC and Epic UGM highlights her commitment to sharing knowledge and best practices in the field of healthcare informatics. Geralyn was always available to NENIC, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when access to best practices and technology was critical to safe patient care. Her ability to communicate complex ideas effectively makes her an invaluable asset in any team.

Geralyn is not only a leader in the professional sphere but also a person of passion. Her passion for Boston sports, golf, and her background in competitive figure skating, as a teenager, reflect her dynamic personality and ability to balance seriousness with fun – a trait that has undoubtedly contributed to her success in managing teams and building positive work environments.
